Dear My Younger Self,
You are told you are ugly, but you are beautiful and will be more beautiful as an adult
You are told you were unwanted, a mistake, a horrible reminder of your father, but you will grow up to be loved and adored
You are told that you were to be aborted–the abortion attempted will fail and you will grow up treasured by your husband and children
You are told you won’t be anything special, but you will grow up to graduate college despite the challenges you will face and you will be the smartest one in your family
You are told you are too skinny and underdeveloped, but you will grow up with curves other women will envy
You are told you have your father’s boney legs, but you will grow up to have your legs envied by women
You are told your lips are too big and disproportionate to your face, but you will grow up having luscious lips other women pay to have
You are told you are lazy, but you will grow up being a hard worker and will be appreciated for your work
You are told you are a quitter, but you will grow up persevering and prove they were wrong
You are told you’re not popular, but you will grow up looking younger and feeling more fulfilled than those “popular” girls
You are told you’re a prude for being a virgin, but you will grow up with more self respect and with a soul that’s whole
You are told many negative things my younger self…you will be told so many more things that are meant to rob you of who are meant to be, but if you could only have one glimpse of yourself as who you will become, you will know that a beautiful life awaits…press on with your head held high my dear younger self.
Absolutely love this! This resonates so much with me.
